8 Minutes by Yoji Sakate
Ensemble play with 19+ characters, men and women.
What if you could relive the same 8 minutes again?
On a train platform in a busy station in Tokyo, a man just misses his train and has to wait 8 minutes for the next one. The same 8 minutes between trains are repeated, over and over -- and only he is cognizant of the time loop. Through the humor and drama of this sci-fi-inspired take on Thornton Wilder's Our Town, Sakate explores a variety of social dynamics and issues -- from politics, sexual harassment, autism, work ethics, the 3.11 earthquake and suicide.
